2009 Acura TL vs BMW 335 2009 Acura TL vs Infiniti G35 G35 2009 Acura TL vs Mercedes C350

The redesigned 2009 Acura TL will arrive in showrooms this fall. The luxury sedan will be available in two distinctive versions including the first ever application of ‘Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) on the TL.
The TL will continue Acura’s new design language seen on the redesigned TSX and RL, featuring a bold front grille treatment. The TL’s interior is less controversial and features several arches in its design language.
The new TL will be available in two models: a base front-wheel drive car and an up-level all-wheel drive model. The front wheel drive model will be powered by a 280 horsepower 3.5L V6 whereas the AWD model will receive its motivation from a 3.7L V6 producing 305 horsepower. Both models will use a five-speed automatic transmission.
As before, the 2009 Acura TL continues to provide an extensive list of electronic convenience items, now including a central multifunction display, an eight-speaker audio system with a six-disc CD changer, XM Satellite Radio and USB port connectivity for hooking up your ipod or other digital devices. An Acura/ELS audio system with 10 speakers, surround-sound and DVD-A compatibility is also available.

The TL's interior has been redesigned in a twin-cockpit style for the front seat occupants, with metal trim that twists and curves as it wraps around from door to dash to console. These comfortable seats embrace you with deep side bolsters, enhancing the wraparound feeling. Both front seats are power, with memory for the driver's side, and seat heaters are included. Leather is still standard, and a upgraded "Milano" leather is part of the technology package option. The dash is more stylized than before, and still easily readable. The quality of interior materials is very takes it to the next level.

Minor tuning changes push the SH-AWD's V6 to 305 hp at 6,200 rpm and 273 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm making this Acura's most powerful engine ever. None of the gear ratios have been changed compared to last year's transmission, although the all-wheel-drive model gets a shorter 4.53:1 final-drive to improve acceleration from the relatively heavy car. The TL uses the same Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive system as the RL, so it's able to vary power between the front and rear wheels as well as between the rear wheels themselves. The SH-AWD model will also sport quad-exhaust and 18 inch wheels to differentiate it from lesser TL models. Both versions of the TL feel plenty fast under full throttle. The TL SH-AWD is 0.3 second quicker from zero-to-60-mph than last year's TL Type-S.

Acura got it right this time. Can't wait to see what pricing will be.
They should kill the C Class if the pricing is inline.

I cannot wait to get behind the wheel ... when are you going to put
a lumbar support in the passenger front seat??
POSTED BY: 10/2/08, 10:46am

It now has a passenger 8 way adjustable power seat. We are
not sure when they will add lumbar.

Well, at least Acura releases unique designs. That being said, the
front grill is HUGE! The trunk area looks like a space ship (old CL),
and the rear lights are Camry-esque. At a quick glance you can see
hints of a Lexus GS, or even a MAxima.
I have been a fan or Acura for a long time, and will probably be buying
a new car in the next week (it is a great time to be in the repo business!!!).
Most likely it will be an 08, but I will at least drive an 09 first. Is the ride still
as sporty as the last one?

Wow this car looks hot! Can you get the 305-hp engine on the FWD
model as an option?
Is there a place on the website that would allow me to make an
appointment to come and see it with no pressure? Are there any
special extended financing options available yet like 0% for
72-months?

Looks like Acura FINALLY caught up to the Infinit G35(37) series. I see they even named one the G35! That is a compliment for Infiniti

I have the 04 TL and LOVE it!!! The 09 has changed the body style dramatically, not to my likeing. Also it appears that the back seat has very little room compared to the 04. The type of steering wheel in the 09 also limits where you can place your hands, especially for long travel.

This one's more distinctive looking than a Rolls. Bingo! Again.
